Background: Interaction among workers, conditions at a work place and individual life style, all combine to produce occupational stress and anxiety. Stress alters the behavior of the person, impairs the quality of his or her life, and adversely affects the work output. Many organizations offer group therapies or other stress relieving programs to their employees with variable degree of success. In the present work, we have studied the effect of a yogic breathing in the form of Sudarshan Kriya (SK) and Pranayama (P) in conjunction with standard group therapy and have compared the results with standard group therapy alone.Method: Sixty software executives were selected randomly for this study. Of the sixty executives, thirty were enrolled for The Art of Living (AOL) program and learnt and practiced SK and P in addition to standard group therapy. Remaining thirty, the control group underwent standard group therapy alone. With the help of Tennessee stress scale-R (TSS-R) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), assessment was made for both the groups at base line and then one month subsequently.
Results: SK and P group had significantly more reduction in anxiety and significantly more improvement in stress coping .
Conclusion: From this pilot study it would appear that reduction in stress and anxiety and improvement in stress coping skills can be achieved better among executives when breathing processes (SK&P) are added to standard group therapy. However, longer and larger studies are required to authenticate these conclusions and also to see if these effects are sustainable over longer periods.

This paper presents three steps fuzzy filters for the removal of both Impulse noise and Gaussian noise in color video sequences and image sequences performances is compared with other noise removal filters parameters such as MSE, PSNR etc. There are many causes of noise in a digital camera, most often leakage currents on the sensor at high ISO, shutter speed and aperture using lens etc. We propose a novel spatio temporal fuzzy based algorithm for noise filtering of Image based on a trapezoidal membership functions and also used in fuzzy set rules. Membership functions detects noisy pixel part and fuzzy set rules detects and removal of random impulse noise removal experimental results are obtained to show the feasibility of the proposed approach. These results are also compared to other filters by numerical measures and visual inspection. Keywords

Employment of rural women has become an important issue in the aftermath of Economic Reforms in the country. As income and employment opportunities in agriculture are becoming increasingly uncertain due to persons migrating from rural areas in search of better income opportunities in urban areas, and escalation of cost of critical inputs in recent years, allied activities like sericulture offer sustainable income and employment for rural women throughout the year. In this context, an empirical study has been taken up in Tamil Nadu to show the contribution of women workforce in sericulture. The study also revealed that female labour participation is not only high but also the share of own family female labour employment is high. However, role of women in decision-making in sericulture has been limited, and not adequately recognised. This paper attempts to address several issues and strategies to empower women in sericulture.- Rural Labour Employment through Mulberry Sericulture - An Analysis of Cross-sectional Study

Mulberry sericulture is being considered as one among the rural development programmes in the country. It is well suited for landless, marginal and small landholders. Studies showed that it assures periodical income throughout the year. After 1990s, Tamil Nadu has become one of the important silk producing states in the country. Many projects were implemented to increase silk production in the State, which has resulted in increase of silk productivity and quality. However, the prospects of employment potential by different farm holding sizes have become necessary to assess the magnitude of employment opportunities in sericulture. In this context, a cross-sectional study was conducted in Erode and Dharmapuri districts in Tamil Nadu during 2003-04. The study reveals that mulberry sericulture employs higher magnitude of own family labour, and is female labour centric. Further, the study shows that as the holding size increases, the quantum of employment generation declines. Sericulture can be popularised in rural areas to supplement employment generation for landless, marginal and small farmers.- Effectiveness of Structural Teaching Programme Regarding knowledge of Passive Smoking among Adolescents in Selected Village Allinayankan Palayam, Namakkal District

Background: Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke, called second-hand smoke (SHS), or environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), by persons other than the intended "active" smoker. It occurs when tobacco smoke permeates any environment, causing its inhalation by people within that environment. Exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke causes disease, disability, and death. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding passive smoking among adolescents. Methods: A one group pre test and post test pre experimental design was adopted for the study 15 adolescent boys and girls fulfilling inclusion criteria were selected by convenient sampling in Allinayankan palayam area at Namakkal district. A pretest was conducted by using knowledge questionnaires related to Passive smoking. Immediately after pretest STP was given to the adolescent boys and girls for 6day post test was conducted to assess the effectiveness of STP. Collected data was analyzed by using descriptive. Result: In The paired ‘t ’ test was calculated to analyze the effectiveness between pre and post test scores of adolescent boys and girls. The paired ‘t ’ test value was 5.66 when compared to table value 2.15 is high. It seems that there is significant relationship between structured teaching programme and adolescent boys and girls. Conclusion: The findings imply the need for education about Passive smoking among adolescents. Education should be extended management of Passive smoking and varies settings to be conducted. Keywords
